The Story Behind Our Handmade Wood Side Tables
Every Handpick side table starts the same way: a solid block or naturally fallen trunk of khaya or Aserus wood, still carrying the grain, knots and colour variation that only real wood has. No two tables come out identical, which is exactly the point.
Handcrafted, not mass-produced
Pieces like the Hollow Set and Uno Table are cut and shaped from tree stumps and trunks rather than machine-milled boards, so the shape of each table follows the shape of the wood it came from. Others, like the Rook Table and Como Table, are turned into more sculptural silhouettes — chess-piece curves, hourglass waists, stacked cylinders — while keeping the same solid wood construction throughout.
Why wood works in a boho home
A solid wood side table does a lot of quiet work in a room: it warms up a space that's mostly linen, jute and ceramic, and it ages well, developing a richer colour over the years instead of looking worn out. Pair a rounded table like the Curvy Table next to a linen sofa, or use a taller piece like the Uno Darko Table as a plant stand for a trailing pothos or fiddle-leaf fig.
Caring for your table
Solid wood prefers a steady environment: keep it out of direct, all-day sun (it can fade and dry the wood), wipe spills promptly rather than letting them sit, and give it an occasional wipe with a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one. A light furniture oil once or twice a year keeps the wood from drying out, especially in air-conditioned rooms.
Every table is handmade in Egypt, so slight variations in grain, colour and shape are part of the piece — not a flaw. Browse the full Tables collection to find the one that's right for your space.
